The Big Idea

The Big Idea challenges residents to do their bit to make a difference in the areas in which they live.

As part of the campaign residents can pitch ideas that they think would improve their area infront of a Dragon's Den style panel, headed by Stalybridge and Hyde MP James Purnell. And if the panel believe the idea could make a difference, they would look at ways of supporting residents to develop it further.

"Sometimes people living or working in the heart of a community are best placed to come up with solutions to the problems they face every day – but don’t know how to make it happen," said Stalybridge and Hyde MP James Purnell.

"Not knowing how to develop an idea can mean that people stay silent – and that’s a real tragedy, especially if the idea could make a real difference.

"As part of The Big Idea we will be able to help make these ideas happen – by providing know how, connections or just by arranging a meeting. And I hope it will empower people living across Stalybridge and Hyde to develop their ideas and make a real difference to the area in which they live."

To take part in The Big Idea submit a brief summary of their idea in writing to James Purnell at The Constituency Office, Hyde Town Hall, Market Street, Hyde, SK14 1AL, by e-mail to purnellj@parliament.uk or by clicking here.

Unfortunately the Big Idea is only open to residents living in the Stalybridge and Hyde constituency – which also includes Longdendale, Mossley and parts of Dukinfield. If you are not sure where you live in the constituency you can check by clicking here.
